Oral Surgery
Comfortable, in-office surgical care — extractions, wisdom teeth, implants, and more — handled close to home.
Some dental problems can’t be fixed with a filling or a crown. They need a surgical solution. We know that word makes people nervous — but modern techniques and good anesthesia make oral surgery far more comfortable than most people expect.
We perform routine oral surgery right here in our Dansville office: extractions, wisdom teeth removal, and implant placement. For complex cases, we’ll refer you to a trusted oral surgeon and stay involved through your recovery.
Before any procedure, we’ll walk you through exactly what’s going to happen, what recovery looks like, and how to take care of yourself afterward. No surprises.
Comfortable, Conservative Care
We don’t recommend surgery unless it’s truly necessary. When there’s a less invasive option that will solve the problem, we’ll explore that first.
When surgery is the right call, we use precise techniques, effective anesthesia options, and clear post-op instructions to keep you comfortable and help you heal faster.
You’ll never feel rushed. We take the time to answer questions, address concerns, and make sure you’re confident before we move forward — so you walk in (and walk out) knowing exactly what to expect.

Common Questions
The procedure itself shouldn’t hurt — local anesthesia keeps the area completely numb, and we offer additional sedation options for patients who want to be more relaxed. Most discomfort comes during recovery and is manageable with over-the-counter pain medication and the post-op instructions we’ll send home with you.
Most simple extractions heal within 7–10 days, with the worst soreness in the first 48 hours. Surgical extractions (including impacted wisdom teeth) take a bit longer — usually 1–2 weeks for soft tissue and several weeks for full bone healing. We’ll give you a realistic timeline based on your specific procedure.
Not always. Some people have wisdom teeth that come in straight and clean and never cause problems. But many wisdom teeth come in impacted, crowded, or at angles that lead to pain, infection, or damage to neighboring teeth. We’ll evaluate yours with X-rays and recommend removal only if there’s a real reason to.
Bone grafting adds bone material to areas of the jaw that have shrunk — usually after a tooth has been missing for a while or after a significant extraction. It’s most often needed to create enough bone to support a dental implant. The procedure is typically done in-office with local anesthesia and heals over a few months before the implant goes in.
For procedures done with local anesthesia only, most patients drive themselves home with no issue. If we use IV sedation or stronger medications, you’ll need someone to drive you and stay with you for the first few hours. We’ll let you know in advance which category your procedure falls into so you can plan ahead.
